Some wedding days are celebrations. Others become unforgettable experiences. For Dayanni and Umang, their Indian wedding at The Dayton Arcade in downtown Dayton, Ohio brought together both for a two day celebration. Friends and family traveled from near and far to witness a celebration rooted in tradition, culture, and community.
Their wedding weekend unfolded over two days. First came a vibrant Indian wedding celebration filled with meaningful customs and family traditions. Then, on the following day, they honored Western wedding traditions with a separate celebration. Together, the two events reflected who they are as a couple and the families who shaped them.
From the moment guests arrived, color filled every corner of the Dayton Arcade. Rich jewel tones, intricate embroidery, and traditional garments transformed the historic venue into a breathtaking scene.
Dayanni wore a stunning Lehenga Choli, beautifully detailed with traditional embellishments and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Umang wore a classic Sherwani, honoring generations of Indian wedding tradition. Together, they created a striking visual that reflected both elegance and heritage.
Throughout the day, family members and guests embraced traditional attire as well. As a result, every moment felt vibrant, intentional, and deeply connected to culture.

The festivities began with the Baraat, one of the most joyful traditions of an Indian wedding.
Music echoed through the streets as family and friends danced alongside Umang’s procession. Laughter filled the air. Guests celebrated together while creating an atmosphere of excitement before the ceremony began.
More importantly, the Baraat symbolized the joining of two families. It invited everyone to participate in the celebration from the very beginning.

Later, the celebration continued with a lively Sangeet. Family members and friends gathered to share performances, dances, and heartfelt moments. Throughout the evening, stories were told through music and movement. The energy remained high as guests cheered one another on and celebrated the couple’s journey together.
Because the Sangeet encourages participation from loved ones, it often becomes one of the most memorable parts of an Indian wedding weekend. For Dayanni and Umang, it was no exception.
The ceremony itself centered around traditions that have been passed down for generations.
One of the most anticipated moments was the Jai Mala, during which the couple exchanged floral garlands. This ritual symbolizes mutual acceptance, respect, and the beginning of their marriage journey.
Following the Jai Mala, Dayanni and Umang participated in the Mangal Fera and Saptapadi. During the Mangal Fera, the couple circled the sacred fire together, signifying their commitment and shared future. Then, through the Saptapadi, they took seven symbolic steps while making promises to one another for marriage.
Each ritual carried profound meaning. At the same time, each moment brought family members together as witnesses to these sacred traditions.
The historic architecture of The Dayton Arcade provided a beautiful backdrop for every event. Its grand spaces complemented the vibrant colors, intricate details, and joyful atmosphere of the celebration.
More importantly, the venue allowed both families to gather comfortably while honoring traditions that spanned generations. Every room felt alive with laughter, music, and connection.
Dayanni and Umang’s first wedding day beautifully showcased the richness of Indian culture. From the energetic Baraat to the emotional ceremony rituals, every part of the celebration reflected family, heritage, and joy.
Most importantly, the day served as a reminder that weddings are about more than a timeline. They are opportunities to honor where you come from while celebrating the future you’re building together.
And for Dayanni and Umang, that future began surrounded by the people who love them most for their Indian wedding at The Dayton Arcade.
